Nope. NL=Netherlands. I've been to Northern Ireland though; beautiful place and indeed very laid back and friendly people as long as you stay away from the rough parts and avoid talking politics. In fact, people in Northern Ireland seem so friendly it's almost unbelievable they managed to spend so long fighting among themselves.

I found myself walking through villages in Antrim where people just spontaneously offered me a cup of tea because I looked cold and wet and had a heavy rucksack.

I miss all those things too. And I'm still here.

I agree. Spending a few days a week over there at the minute, half of that time is spent talking. The sort of chat that you can never remember 24 hours later..

40 minutes and London is rubble - don't you doubt it.

Tony B Liar said it would take 45 minutes for Saddam's imaginary WMDs to get here, so those North Koreans must have really fast imaginary rockets.

I would say one thing in defence of chain-pubs/restaurants - these days they are NOT all budget £4.99 places like Wetherspoons. If like me you've only ever come across Cafe Rouge and La Tasca in one place the academic knowledge it's a chain isn't a problem. I guess if you travel a lot it would be different, seeing the same menu every town you visit.

I don't miss England. It is just a place I do business, and it's quite a bit grimmer than most other places, so if a choice presents itself, I go elsewhere.
