Don't know what you're all arguing about - but academic research suggests that teaching children too early at nursery is detrimental to their subsequent education. Not sure about their socialisation skills.
In Scandinavia, kids are sent to formal schooling (e.g. nursery) much later.Hard Brexit now!

From what I've read, I agree with that policy. I don't like the idea of my kid having to start pre-school at 3 (She's right in the end of her year, so she starts very very early). In the UK you can't change that, in some other countries you can choose to hold them back.
Probably helps that in Scandinavia primary school teachers have to be university graduates, unlike here.Hang on - there is actually a place called Cheddar?? - cailin maith
