Don't know what you're all arguing about - but academic research suggests that teaching children too early at nursery is detrimental to their subsequent education. Not sure about their socialisation skills.
In Scandinavia, kids are sent to formal schooling (e.g. nursery) much later.
      Hard Brexit now!

Not quite true - they go to kindergarden up till 7 (Nursery in other words) and then start school/formal education.

From what I've read, I agree with that policy. I don't like the idea of my kid having to start pre-school at 3 (She's right in the end of her year, so she starts very very early). In the UK you can't change that, in some other countries you can choose to hold them back.

Probably helps that in Scandinavia primary school teachers have to be university graduates, unlike here.

No surprise there. I blame it on your maths issues.

I think you'll find it hard to find a primary school teacher without a degree.

You're much more likely to find an unqualified teaching assistant acting as a teacher because the school is tulipe.

Well, IME Scandinavian women are complete nutcases. Not sure if you'd be able to find a causal link to their nursery education though...

I don't know about the research, but observation of my kids and other kids shows some are ready and eager to learn and some are happy just playing.

My middle one aged 4 1/2 - she watches the eldest doing her homework and just wants to copy her.
