I don't get all this fuss. Why should they have an automatic right to settle in the UK? Were they promised it when they joined?

Can't they just get a six month visa, pretend to be learning English at college and then just overstay safe in the knowledge no one will take a blind bit of notice, then register at their local doctors and get an NHS number, write to HMR&C and ask for a National Insurance number, and then sign on like everybody else?

FFS, do we need special government approval for immigrants now when we have system in place that lets anyone here stay anyway?
