Who remembers Mosaic? When exciting graphics meant ASCII pics :-) ? When all you could access was university thesisi? What was the first thing you got excited about on the internet (if it is porn you are too young to answer)?
It's all been downhill since gopher and ftp.

And then when AOL got linked up, OMG!
Insanity: repeating the same actions, but expecting different results.

Do you mean that subset of the Internet, the World Wide Web?
WHS (although I'd refer to the web as an Internet application, given that it exists at the application layer of the OSI model)

I never used to bother with the web when I first had Internet access whilst working on a gig at a university research institute in the early 90s. Usenet and FTP FTW!

You're right: AOL was like an inflow of fresh mud. Yes I am being snobby: sometimes it's true.

WHS. Usenet started going to pot on the same day.

I haven't seen a [edited out for annoyance value] for years! Cliphead, you didn't wrap it in the standard delimiters, nor include the version. Anyway,

You are an IT specialist, yet reckon you're also as good at music and acting: a very unusual mix of 3 geeknesses. You dress casually: no chest on which to wear a T-shirt and shorts are big enough for your legs. Born in the 1970s, you are making money as an IT professional, in particular as a Unix sysadmin for web stuff on a variety of platforms and Linux pays for your bacon butties. I am surprised at your Usenet views, and you made far less use of the Oracle than I did! I agree about Kibo but feel even more strongly about Bill Gates. OS/2 & Macs, yeah, whatever, but VMS, really? I think we all agree politically (except for Cyberman, of course). The Cypherpunks and encryption: haven't we all moved on? Sold an Enterprise? Kewl! Where were you when Susan Ivanova was melting my heart? Although Gillian Anderson does nothing for me. I prefer C&S to D+D. not ( tv ) for me; surely we all prefer books, and Dilbert. I still play Doom; it is so much easier with the sound on! You need a life and I'm surprised at your level of education - are you not a Brit? There's no broadband option, is there? Not married yet? Did anyone ever say they were a virgin, unless they lied about their gender?
