I sort of suspect and agree with what someone suggested to me regarding what could possibly have happened.

The father gave the child a sleeping pill, the child died and in order not to compramise the father's career and their children and their current life style the parents dumped the body and concocted a ludicrous story of kidnap/abduction.

I don't have a clue what half this thread is about.

But do you not think the new suspect is just a direct copy of an old Elvis Costello picture?

How do you account for the independent witnesses who saw this suspect then?

I've not followed this case, which only now amounts to watching this documentary and maybe reading a few of the recent news reports, until recently so am still taking it at face value.

Father = surgeon (therefore, ******), mother = GP (scouser).

If they were in some way responsible for the death of their own daughter then yes there'd be hell to pay for them both in terms of social services intervention in the UK and criminal action (either culpable homicide or manslaughter) but it is a gargantuan IF and that's something that we need to bear in mind.

In my opinion, however, there's likely to be something else there that isn't being disclosed either by them or the Portugese police. To a greater or lesser extent, this reverts to the discussion that we had recently on the seizure of £67K from someone and the powers of the police to investigate.

I do not for a minute think the parents did it, it's the kind of gossip spread by bored houswifes down the post office or in the hairdressers. The kind that won't let their kids eat pork these days and think the Duke of Edinburgh murderer Diana. Educated just enough to read OK magazine.

What it does show is that we take for granted how good the police are in this country, the cleaners had went over the place and the refuse had emptied all the bins in the area before the got their arse in gear. A SKY reporter thinks Murat looks shifty so they go round and dig up his garden.

Returning to the point I've made previously on salaciousness in the media. "If it bleeds, it leads" has never been more apposite than now.

Ah I seem to have entered the "lack of common sense" thread.

Is there some link between Baggy's Madeleine conspiracy theory and his informing us that he has a ongoing stalker for months?

                    1. Stalking is a criminal offence and must be treated as such.
                    2. There is no evidence that the parents did anything. And if they did would they have resurrected the issue after 2 years or let it die?

Conclusive proof that some of the most educated people are in fact not very bright.
