I hope Blatter (though I hate him and his cronies) finds a way to make this 6-5 rule work. I think that's as good as a salary cap and will certainly shake things up at the top of the premier league.

The reason USA soccer don't pay stupid money is because they don't generate the revenue.

It's a bit pot and kettle for people on here to be slagging off footballers for taking the biggest cheque or branding footballers as greedy.

The most spectacular example of how stupid the FA is must be the Golden Handshake for the last England manager - whatshisname - Sven Gormless - for failing to even reach the finals he gets 1 million every year for five years - I guess this model of failure- reward was the blueprint for the Banking Bailout.

Just think that over England fans - a million every year for five years for letting you all down.

      And hes not even English.

Football is a chav's game anyway. I hope all the clubs go bust and their stupid fans find something real to do with their sad lives.
After all how stupid is it to identify with an arbitrary team and call them "my" team?

        Hard Brexit now!

Actually the last manager was Steve Mclaren although he probably got a similar deal. The new manager is getting five (six even?) million per year and one of his requirements was that he could select his own back room staff which cost around 2 million a year. And we still wont win anything.

Yes there's another prime example of the waste and stupidity that is the opium of the masses.

Sven never failed to reach any finals with England.

Sven did get a ridiculous pay-out because the FA put him on a ridiculous contract (so blame them).

Supply and demand. Works every time. I would also be in favour of short-selling the stars.
The problem is that some clubs (like Leeds) borrowed money and nearly totally collapsed - it's like the same thing with banks really, regulation is necessary to at least ensure that clubs do not have debts - if fans are financing all this then it's fine, but the reality is that clubs have huge debts and it is the footballers who will move on when club dies are responsible for these debts.

Considering it is the banks like RBS, Northern Rock who will lose money if clubs go bust and the fact that those banks are owned by taxpayers now it seems reasonable that banks demand clubs to be on sound footing - cut salaries to pay back what they owe.

The reality is that those ridiculous salaries of footballers in this country are all build on debt - like morgaged gate receipts for years to come. How many of those expensive players stay with club when it gets relegated?
