As Freemasonry is not a religion how can it be a cult?
        Let me explain.

sect n. 1 group sharing (usu. unorthodox) religious, political, or philosophical doctrines. 2 (esp. exclusive) religious denomination. [Latin sequor follow]
One definition of cult is "sect". Take the first definition of sect. Applies most definitely to Freemasonry.
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!

I heard that used for years until I cracked and asked what it meant.

If the tones of Minestrone are perhaps a bit harsh, I do not also understand why he has the obligation to be erudite about masonry. I think it is in everybody's right to be ignorant about something in life. Since no-one is capable of explaining what masonry is the individual should be free not to like it and consider it unusual, bizarre or strange. I have a couple of questions, for example, if it is something so good, why only a small number of people are allowed to know that? And even if only a small number of people can know that, why is it kept secret to the rest? And, no I don't want to try, I don't want to read books, etc.

Those are just two simple questions I would like to ask to join any association that is secret and the membership is limited. Or anybody else here likes to join organizations without seeing the contract?
I've seen much of the rest of the world. It is brutal and cruel and dark, Rome is the light.

Nope, I reckon I'd fail the first test which is to have a belief in 'something' that something being a god. I don't know which one, I'm not a Mason and for that reason I may be wrong as well.

If you're so interested in 'secret' orders that don't talk about their organisation, carry out 'funny' rituals, have different levels of rank, etc, etc, etc try doing some research on Opus Dei. And no I'm not a member of them either.

No it doesn't. Freemasonry is not based on a single religion, it's not based on any religion, only a belief in "something that is a singular omnicient presence", be it budha, allah, god, whatever singular deity you wish swear an oath on.

By the way, we don't shag goats. I most definitely don't anyway.

If you have questions about Freemasonry then ask a Freemason. The only things that we have secret are our modes of recognition.

Ask me a question and I'll answer it to the best of my ability.

If you choose to disbelieve the answer then that is your perogative.

I've got one, any truth to the story that Freemasonary was an evolution of the Templars after they were persecuted?
