Doesn't it say somewhere in the bible thumper's manual something about "judge not lest ye be judged", and "he who hath not sinned can lob the first brick" - or word to that effect?
Two things that strike me about bible thumpers. One is that they ignore the bits of their manual that go against their bigotry. The other is that, if this god creature is so all powerful and all knowing - why does he need man to stand up for him?
Isn't it interesting that the gods people invent happen to hate the same people that they do?
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God? - Epicurus
Yawn, a discussion on denominations. I doubt many people who claim to be Protestant or Catholic even know what the doctrinal differences are... I'm close to what many would label fundamentalist and I don't even know. CofE is a relatively new denomination compared to Roman Catholicism, but even that was introduced by the Romans in about 300AD as an official religion - it is widely different to what the church was like previously.
Catholicism seems fundamentally wrong on some very key issues (salvation by works) but does appear to have a more 'guts' to stand by issues it sees as black & white. On the other hand, CofE is so watered down and so happy to abandon 'absolute truth' I don't even know what their doctrine is...

Yeah: don't burn heretics, let the All-Powerful do it.....

You mean how billions of people believe in the same God but hate each other? Or was there a deeper point about everyone making their own god while claiming to share the same religion? In that case I see your point, hate-filled people twist anything to fuel their hate... but that has nothing at all to do with what the religion is actually based on... people can twist any philosophy or faith to fit their needs but it doesn't change the veracity of it.
Quite a lot, compared to - what is it? 3 or 4 "catholic" churches?
There is only one true Catholic church, yes the Eastern Europeans tried to invent their own and the English had their own try but the Roman Catholic church is the only true Catholic church.

Ah, the voice of tolerance: only mine is the True Church, the rest are imposters......
