True. We are very very casual all next week. Bring packed lunch/use canteen. Do not go out to watch the riot!

If protestors get into lobby the rest of the building will be locked!

The guards at our place are mostly gurkhas. I dont fancy the protestor's chances much.....

Staff in Edinburgh were told to ditch the suits when the G8 was on and there was a bit of grief on the Glasgow to Edinburgh train where crusties and smart people had a bit of a rumble. I was working for Mr Plod at the time and they descended on our office at Govan, Plod Vs Crusties going at each other down the road, spoke to some copper in riot gear and he told me "I'm just up from the midlands for this".

I have never seen so many police, the old firm match usually gets thousands of them on the street but this was unprecidented. I lived at that time next to the M8 junction at Charing Cross and there was 60 plod just sitting there waiting for a fight, they were 30 miles away from the main event.

Anyway, it could be worse, Rangers are not playing in London.

I remember once, when I was working in London, the "Reclaim the Streets" mob had a demo. As a direct result, I couldn't get off the tube at bank and walk to Liverpool St., I had to go by train.

          Pillocks.

What do they want? The ability (and government funding) to moan about the current system, while enjoying its benefits to the full, thereby giving them a wonderful feeling of (middle class) self-rigteousness.

          Pillocks.

Machine gun the lot of 'em I say. ******* parasites. They wouldn't know a legitimate cause if it came up and bled and puked all over them. Tossers. If they really care about 3rd world debt, get out there and work with those who are suffering directl.y

          Pillocks.
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!

              I disagree.

              I work in a bank.

But I have been on the receiving end of injustice. I can empathize with the protestors.

But I will still be earning a large wad in a bank next Wednesday. Partner, kids and litigious ex-wife to support.

G20 Protests London April 1st, Alternative conference, and print your own money

                also available here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hl-IfrMh6cI

See also: Video Ron Paul explaining the G20 summit simply

On April 1st, we’ll show the G20 what meltdown means.
Lost your home? Lost your job? Lost your savings or your pension? This party is for you!

Capitalism has been heating up our world for years, melting the icecaps, burning up the rainforests, pushing the planet to tipping point. Now we’re going to put the heat on them. At the London Summit , the G20 ministers are trying to get away with the biggest April Fools trick of all time. Their tax-dodging, bonus-guzzling, pension-pinching, unregulated free market world’s in meltdown, and those fools think we’re going to bail them out. They’ve gotta be joking! –more–
                .

What always happens on days like this is the tubes break down, there are horrendous traffic jams and many can not make it to the demos.
                .

The dogooders that wish a better a world are no match for the organised secret services. The police are currently downplaying any concern for unruliness, saying the right to peaceful protest is no problem.
                .
London has on many occasions seen demos go on for hours until the night with burning dustbins etc.
                .
Once I was watching from a distance and suddenly police were running by - only to surround everyone and herd us into a mammoth crammed cattle like square. And some of them were mean. Rumour had it that some kind of radiowaves were being blasted at us to pacify everyone.
                .
Prior to this police action there were groups of agents provocateurs trying to stampede people by (repeatedly) running by in a frantic manner.
                .

Still there is every possibility the protests will be huge

"I can empathize with the protestors"

You will not when you see then up close, they were brutal little thugs when they came to Scotland and upon travelling to Edinburgh they were out to get Bank staff dressed in suits. There was plenty of trouble on the trains going to Edinburgh with the crusties having a go with people in suits. Good few Glaswegian people with jobs in banks had a few pops at the clowns.

It should be interesting in the heart of the square mile, we've been told to not wear suits so I'll be dressing down in some cords and brogues to blend in.

May be best to get into work early before the buildings go into lockdown mode, I think this protest could be a biggy.

Good debate on BBC radio 5 this morning reminding everyone of the G8 summit in Scotland four years ago. We were reminded that "MakePovertyHistory" on 2nd July was Scotland's biggest ever demonstration. And it was entirely peaceful.

But we weren't reminded what happened five days later.

If there is a big demonstration in London next week to mark G20 - and there almost certainly will be - I just hope that whoever utilised 7/7 doesn't get any more big ideas to divert attention.
