Quality rant. To answer the question, all these arse faced large companies answer only to shareholders who demand stupidly high short term gains - the only way to achieve these gains (or at least the illusion of them that banks and wanky accounts will believe) is through unsustainable stupid business practises which alienate all staff and customers at all times.

I called Virgin yesterday to cancel my TV and Internet as I am moving house, while they answered the phone they couldn’t do SFA as their systems were down. I mean why make me go through all of the menus when they could have put a message on saying 'we are useless and can’t take your call right now'.

Think they need a few more contractors to sort the place out.

It's amazing to see how quickly systems fall apart when all the contractors are chucked out. Well maybe it isn't amazing, but reassuring in a strange way.
