I have been thinking about leaving my permanent position to go supply-teaching and wondered if anyone can tell me, how do supply teachers get paid when they are not employed by a single school?
Do they have to send invoices to each school separately for the time that they spend there?
What is the best way to set this up? Can you operate as a sole-trader or is it better to set up a Limited Company?
But, if operating as a Limited Company, I have heard that you can end up being called a "disguised employee" by the taxman and they will demand that you pay extra employment taxes, is that correct? In view of these additional taxes is the prefered thing to do to work through a company in the Isle of Man that can handle all the billing side of things for you?
After a very successful study visit in February, we are looking for participants for the next study visit to be hosted by the Center for Modern Education (CFME) in Prague, Czech Republic. ..Beyond the School is a cross-curricular educational project in which school pupils explore their local heritage through the medium of old and present-day photographs. By taking new photos with digital cameras, comparing them to old photos of the same locations using photographic software and exploring the changes...If you would like to participate, please contact me by email ([email protected]) or message me on this forum and I will provide you with more detailed information. We had a great time on the last one, so I am really looking forward to the next!
I'm sure my children will ask so I might aswell pose the question first
Are camera phones allowed? and when you say old are you referring to the Digital SLR's that my partner has?

Hello,
Just in response to your question on the board. The Beyond the School project uses digital cameras, but as long as it is possible to upload the images onto computer and the quality is good enough, any type of camera should be fine.
When I mentioned old photographs, I was referring to photographs that were taken a long time ago, which would be used in comparison with photos taken by the children in the same locations as part of the project.
The study visit is aimed at individuals such as teachers or youth workers, who would be interested in learning more about the project with a view to running one or being involved in one.
Hope this helps, feel free to contact me if you have any more questions,
