"Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny. "
...on my way into work, I was walking up the High Street when I noticed a white van and several men in high visibility jackets. As i got closer I noticed that two of the men were holding a very large pane of glass (the size of a shop window) between them!
Oh great I thought, two men holding each end of a large pane of glass, so I stopped to watch the hilarity ensue
Circa 1983, Chase Side, Enfield, North London. Stood at a bus stop on my way home from college.
Two blokes, glazier's van, huge piece of glass.
They lifted the glass off the side of the van. The old boy in front had gloves on. The lad behind did not. Sadly, as they walked off, the lad behind did a Diver. The glass had slid through his fingers. He was across the road and about 100 to 150 feet away but I saw the blood spraying out of his hand. He was screaming like a girl (so probably a Spurs fan).
He dropped his end of the glass (well, as much as 'ceased to have anything to hold on with' counts as letting go) but it didn't break. The old boy was putting his end down when my bus came and I got on it and that was that.
I didn't want to be told off for being late home for my dinner.
