I had the very daft notion that there might be a mix up at the DNA analysis laboratory. 'It's ok son , you are not the father of little Maisy, but the RSPCA and the police want to interview you regarding having unlawful sex with an 18,000 year old Scottish Polar bear'

I really respect this post SZ - and you make perfectly sound points too...
But who are you to say what adequate contraception is?

My best mate has 6 siblings. My father in law was from a family of 13...as was my grandad actually.

What gives you the right to look down your nose at this man because he has 8 kids? Are you saying we should cap the amount of kids we let people have?

They aren't, they don't have the benefit of experience nor the capacity to recognise consequences.
I probably am part of the problem. I too think sex is something to do when you're bored with playing on the playstation.
My attitude towards sex hasn't changed at all since I was 15 - it's fun...it's lush....it's not the same as love, but it's really really nice!

And god when I was younger....it was so exciting!!! Some of the memories I've got will keep me warm when I'm old and grey that's for sure! And I still blush now at some of them

And I wouldn't dream of taking that away from the young'uns today - they have as much of a right to be naughty little devils as I did. Who wants this perfect society? It's not about treating them all as mini-adults (although that IS what they are!) It's about letting them be! As adults we have the right to advise, to lend a hand, to protect, to guide - but we DONT have the right to take freedoms away. There's a huge difference in my eyes.

          I think you'll find that we don't.

As adults we have to protect kids. Maybe advising them, and discouraging them from having sex early is a form of protecting them?

How come it's ok for him to be a little devil, but if I kn0bbed a 15 year old, you would be the first to want my nuts off with a blunt knife

Just explain to her that you were "lending a hand".

WHS.... sex is not for underage kids. The consequences with promiscuity of disease(cervical cancer(think Jade ), syphillis, gonorrhea, chlamydia etc), abortion, or even starting a family at 13 with another child as a parent are far beyond a child's comprehension.

Hence the sex education in school! You've just made your own argument for it - well done!

Bollocks. It's not some new phenomena, it's just more reported and there as social safety net reasons for girls to go through with pregnancies (We almost encourage it). Unless you were a right minger where I grew up then it was very unlikely indeed you'd make it past 14 without losing it.

Responsible approach to sex eduction works, facts bear that out. Preaching abstinence doesn't and seems to result in more teen pregnancies (Check the USA for a great example of this approach), and more sexually transmitted diseases.
