Every gig I have been at for years, at some point in the first week I have done a particular search and printed something out:

1. Google
2. Image search for 'management 101'
3. Take the first hit
4. Click on 'See full size image'
5. Print
6. Stick on wall.

With a bit of on-line rummaging, you can find a bigger version.


I have left a trail of these on notice boards at gigs all over England and Wales.

As I'm in the process of trying to get into contracting I bought (and read) this book.

It's one of those books that skims over most of the key topics. Therefore it's good for first timers as it gives you an idea of topics you need to find out more about.

I would say if you're an established contractor it probably isn't worth the purchase.

Personally I found PCG's "Guide to Freelancing" a much more useful publication. Similar publications by SJD & Nixon Williams also provide a decent overview of contracting, albeit at a very high level.
