I was looking at news about the "Mexican stewmaker". The BBC says he dissolved his victims in Caustic Soda, the Times and Mail say he dissolved them in Acid.

This just seems fitting somehow, alkaline substances somehow seem to me to be socialist/left wing while acids are right wing. What do others think about the political affiliations of common chemicals?

How about the disappointing level of scientific education on the newspapers (though the Scotsman also had caustic soda).
