Can you catch crabs from blow job ?

A friend of mine has a small sailing dinghy, no motor, so we lovingly call it his BJ.

He wants to sail it out into Liverpool bay, to fish, but that is waaayyy to risky, so I proposed getting a crab line, and go crabbing closer to home. He recons you can only crab from a jetty
