I'm going to come over all geeky now, but I'm afraid that the robot in Forbidden Planet was not the same robot in LIS (Lost in Space)Originally posted by Platypus View PostMe too!
EDIT: you can see Robbie's first appearance in Forbidden Planet. Classic 50s Sci-Fi.
Robbie did appear in LIS in an episode which I think was called "War of the robots".
The robot in LIS was always referred to as "Robot" or 'The Robot', I think his actual name was Robot B9 or something similar.
I do agree that Forbidden Plant is a wonderful film though, what with Walt Disney creating the ID monster and the great musical tonalities.
One of my all time fave Sci Fi filmsI'm sorry, but I'll make no apologies for this

In that case, I can probably ask you how you rate the original Day the Earth Stood Still vs. the recent remake? I saw the remake yesterday and thought it was poor. I loved the originalOriginally posted by Pogle View PostOne of my all time fave Sci Fi films

I haven't seen the remake and to be honest I don't want to. The original was good, not in my top ten, but a good film none the less.Originally posted by Platypus View PostIn that case, I can probably ask you how you rate the original Day the Earth Stood Still vs. the recent remake? I thought Gort was done very well.
There used to be a street in Hulme in Manchester called 'Gort Walk' - i often wondered if it was named after the robot
.
