With escalating fuel prices, people getting poorer through globalisation and ever escalating taxes, I don't think we will see such passenger growth.

I'm for it. More runways = More slots = Less delays = Good

I think building a new airport in the Thames Estuary is the way to go - then raze Heathrow to the ground - oh look suddenly lots of space to build new houses, flats, shops!
The last thing Heathrow needs is more shops! As for razing Heathrow, that would spell the end of the M4 corridor. Firms like GSK aren't going to base their international headquarters next to a motorway on the wrong side of London.

I think you might find that the BAA have a history of forcing flights through Heathrow in preference to regional airports.

Both Gatwick and Heathrow are suffering lower passenger numbers.

So why are we expanding them???

Raze Heathrow and expand RAF Northolt!

Anyway if cross rail goes ahead and / or there is a good fast train service to the new location why is it a problem?

And its not as if the new airport will take less than 5 years or more to build - plenty of time for the M4 corridor companies to consider their future.
