The same could be said for kebab meat. It's no coincidence that several pints of lager are required prior to it becoming a viable food option.

It also helps to subdue the body's natural defences so that the full benefit of the food can be absorbed without being hindered.

I eat a lot of beetroot and even though I’ve heard this tale from lots of people I’ve never pissed red. Maybe I have some special enzyme in my gut that breaks down red dyes. Maybe it’s just an urban myth.
