Ah, but Mitch, we are talking about a political decision that was taken to afford gay "marriages" the same equality, not just in law, but in the collective moral outlook of society.

As a member of that society I feel I have a view on its collective morals. Even if they are not shared. It is my right to hold them and to voice them in order to ensure that society doesn't sleepwalk into degeneracy.

However the political decision is fair game for interference. I live to interfere in the political process and I shall continue to do so when politicians introduce laws that I don't agree with.

Would gay "marriages" have been introduced if a referendum had been taken?

Was it really the wish of the people that Sir Elton and Lady David be given the same marital status that the majority of them enjoy?

Personally as a straight person who has gay friends, I think what they do behind closed doors is their business,
I reckon you're a fundamentalist Christian who's become that way because of your guilt about your gay tendencies.
It's similar to the Islamic Jihadists who would rather enjoy the fruits of Western freedom but can't get laid.

No because as I've said in the thread, I believe in the Theory of Evolution. You are an example of it. The gene pool does have a shallow end. I also believe in the Big Bang. Both of which are anathema to fundamentalists.
