Ah, but Mitch, we are talking about a political decision that was taken to afford gay "marriages" the same equality, not just in law, but in the collective moral outlook of society.

As a member of that society I feel I have a view on its collective morals. Even if they are not shared. It is my right to hold them and to voice them in order to ensure that society doesn't sleepwalk into degeneracy.

However the political decision is fair game for interference. I live to interfere in the political process and I shall continue to do so when politicians introduce laws that I don't agree with.

Would gay "marriages" have been introduced if a referendum had been taken?

Was it really the wish of the people that Sir Elton and Lady David be given the same marital status that the majority of them enjoy?

I heard a Musac version of "Woodstock" today, being played in a crappy shop. Quite depressing.

Deano - you should be a stand up comedian. Or a BNP spokesman. One or the two.

You're quite funny in a weird kind of way.

Why does it bother you unless you really are a raving poofter, which is beginning to become clear as the thread progresses.
Personally as a straight person who has gay friends, I think what they do behind closed doors is their business,
I reckon you're a fundamentalist Christian who's become that way because of your guilt about your gay tendencies.
It's similar to the Islamic Jihadists who would rather enjoy the fruits of Western freedom but can't get laid.

No because as I've said in the thread, I believe in the Theory of Evolution. You are an example of it. The gene pool does have a shallow end. I also believe in the Big Bang. Both of which are anathema to fundamentalists.

I also believe that the Bible should be interpreted for our own time, which is something that both fundamentalist evangelical Christians and fundamentalist evangelical atheists both reject.

A lesbian marriage can produce a child via turkey baster (sp?!) also a male gay marriage can produce a child using a surrogate mother - either way you wil still have 1 natural parent in the group.

Why do people keep saying gay marriages cannot produce children?

Why the Bible and not the Koran? Or the Bhagavad Gita?
Could it be a random accident of your birth? And what does that tell you?

A turkey baster is the best argument for supporting gay "marriages" yet!
