The song would be deemed offensive though, so the fans singing it will still be in the merde. It starts:

"sol sol where ever you may be
you're one step away from lunacy
    but we won't give a ****
    ...More offensive line...
    ...More offensive line..."

They were also chanting "You're only here to see the Sailors" which I think is quite a funny chant. And before you all jump on the 'Oh my god you're homophobic...' bandwagon. I was in the Navy and I don't find it offensive they were implying that I used to bat for the other side (I don't).

What the papers aren't picking up on are the same fans giving Jermain Defoe big cheers and applause in the same game. It's got nothing to do with colour and all to do with the fact that Sol left Spurs for Arsenal. Football stadiums are not for the easily offended.
    agreed
it's the thin end of the wedge

I back in the early 90s something similar happened with some footballer at Newcastle United (or at a Newcastle match). It was all blown up as being racist, when in fact it was because he was (alledgely) a homosexual. Or because he'd begun to bat... er,... play for the other side. (Being a former Newcastle player ).
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!

We have the same thing up in Scotland with Neil Lennon at Celtic. The PC brigade like to thing that the Rangers fans hate him because he was a Catholic playing for Northern Ireland when the truth be told it's just because he's a wee ginger arrogant tosspot who used to do things like spit on Rangers scarves at games, etc.
"I hope Celtic realise that, if their team is good enough, they will win. If they're not good enough, they'll not win - and they can't look at anybody else, whether it is referees or any other influence." - Walter Smith

On them! On them! They fail!

It's not 1979 any more. Football is a business now.

The people who own the clubs may think that, but I think you'll find the guys and girls in the stands who have followed the club their whole life see it inherently as their club and any owner who's been there for 2 years and thinks they can eradicate the mentality is barking up the wrong tree, look at Ashley at Newcastle.

Baws, there are 2 people remanded just now on sectarian motivated assault charges after knocking him out. They are both going away for a very very long time.

2 people do not a nation make.

No, but they are both Rangers season ticket holders. The trials are going to be very uncomfortable for Rangers, they both have interesting pasts.

Anyway, are the police still displaying the message at the start of rangers games threatening arrest for the singing of racist songs?

Are you turning this into an anti-Rangers thread? Why have you got so much hatred for Rangers fans?

I am simply asking a question that is relevant to this thread subject and to your first point on this thread "Do the police still have to display a message on the screens at Ibrox warning that the signing of the famine song will lead to arrest?"
