    Oui, the uk is fooked.

The only thing we could rely on after being a financial giant was our engineering expertise and education has gone down the pan in the last decade or so so we are no longer the forefront of god damn anything!

We are the European leader in population density, though.

Nope. Malta and the Netherlands have a higher population density. There are a lot of dense people in the UK though, judging by Mr Brown's polling figures.

If it all goes Pete Tong, France can feed itself, can Britain?
I know DA bangs on about "sclerotic" EU economies - but the bottom line is - if you can't feed yourself, everything else is moot.

We have been lied to by successive governments, both Tory and Labour, to believe we are better off than we are.
I notice there soap manufacturing capacity is still non existant. And they dont import any.

I think we should join them and become protectionist. Lets all do it and see how the frogs get on then.

France has a much lower population density than the UK. More natural resources if the world collapses into anarchy, the UK is far too full.

Ah, yes, but unfortunately the rest of the world still sees it as the UK.

Anyway, there's plenty of space oop north if you're not too much of a woofter.

Actually we lead the world in stem cell research, mainly because the bible thumpers don't have us by the short and curlies like they do in the US.

If we handle it right, it could be very lucrative in the years to come. But we've screwed up every other induistry we've lead the world in before so I don't see any reason for optimism this time round.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God? - Epicurus
