I don't think the feelings that Karen Matthew's plan has stirred up are particularly middle-class. I think that there are just as many people shocked from other classes, upper-, lower- and under-.

What she did was wrong in anyone's eyes, no matter what you read; The Times, The Daily Mail, The Sun or Class War.

It's no good trying to provide a class-based explanation for her actions, when one doesn't exist, in order to then provoke a debate about capitalism, education and wealth-redistribution, which is what some left-wing apologists will no doubt be attempting.

The "Oh Dear" reaction is the right one. The words that are used may not be "Oh dear", depending upon your own education and background, but that is merely the displayed result of the common reaction that has taken place within any right-thinking individual.

It also seems to me, that to dismiss an argument from the middle-classes (whatever they are these days) as "pseudo-intellectual", and therefore worth less than one from some other class is a little arrogant.

This case goes some way to proving that people should have to earn the right to be parents.

Being a parent is the most responsible duty a human can have, yet it requires the least amount of education or qualification that the parents are fit for the role, either mentally, emotionally, or financially.

For every case the social services deal with correctly, there are many that are mishandled, or missed altogether. It's just not working.

I say they should develop a contraception that's given to girls before they become sexually active and can't be removed until a whole raft of critera has been met. With the planet getting more and more overpopulated it's either this or another world war.
