    The FSA had all the powers it needed to control the banking system. You are quite right about what the govt should be for. If the FSA did not have the power then the govt could have given the powers. The reason the govt ignored the dangers was because it was gorging itself on the tax revenues it was raising from the credit boom.

    It is interesting to see that now the likes of Gordon Brown and labour are cock a hoop
