I'm wearing some on day 1 so hopefully not too bad, thank heavens for Dr Martens comfy shoes.Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson -

Don't take more than the recommended dose of paracetemol it causes liver damage. It's also not a good idea to take it with alcohol. The liver metabolises both using the same pathway. Alcohol and ibuprofen is fine.
Diclofenac (Voltaren) is pretty effective, as has been said - not compatible with high blood pressure though. But, I think, it requires a prescription?
And don't dissolve the neurofen plus + ibuprofen in port. Hot whisky is the correct solvent.Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!Comment

Maybe I take the wrong sort, but does anyone else find that these pain killers/anti-inflammatory have feck all effect?Comment

Yes, there are many people who are either allergic and/or feel no effect. You can get a couple of diazamols from the doctor for use before going to see the Dentist, for example. You still feel the pain, but you don't care, is great.Originally posted by TimberWolf View PostMaybe I take the wrong sort, but does anyone else find that these pain killers/anti-inflammatory have flip all effect?Comment

I can highly recommend 2 x co-codamol in a 30/500 tablet (you might need a scrip in UK - got mine from Andorra). It probably won't hurt anymore, but even if it does, you won't give a tulip.
If you can't get hold of them, go for nurofen plus. Just make sure you eat before you take a big dose as nobody like to wake up with a stomach ulcer..."See, you think I give a tulip. Wrong. In fact, while you talk, I'm thinking; How can I give less of a tulip? That's why I look interested."Comment

Take a heavy hammer (4lb will do). Place your non-hammer-wielding hand on a firm surface, such as a kitchen worktop (might want to use a chopping board with a damp cloth placed underneath to prevent any accidents). Smash the hammer as hard as you can onto the thumb of the hand on the firm surface. Bingo! You can no longer feel the pain in your toe. I think I missed a trick by not going into medicine.Comment

Completelty untrue but everyone seems to think otherwise, a nurse once told me that as well. Paracetemol and booze are perfectly OK.Originally posted by NotAllThere View PostDon't take more than the recommended dose of paracetemol it causes liver damage. Although I know of someone who had to get rushed to hospital after taking 4 different flu remedies which all contained paracetemol. Just saved their liver.Comment
