No contradiction - what should not be allowed is for any party to change the rules while they are in Govt in order to prolong their time in power, this is a litmus test for any authoritarian Govt really - if they do that or even talk of doing it, then they should be immediately overthrown.

In this country powers are separated - if BNP gets to Parliament then still courts are independent and legal practice is well established, that's why freedoms (even of scumbags) need to be defended because if scumbags lose their rights then the next people to lose will be decent people.

Hey no one is disputing the BNP's right to exist or even for people to be racist.
It's just that when they self destruct internally because they're a bunch of hapless buffoons, one can't help but laugh ....
If, on the other hand they had, say, 35% of the popular support (say after a prolonged period of economic problems) and had a charismatic orator for a leader such that they could possibly get into power in a first past the post system- would all the people arguing for free speech on here still support them taking power, knowing full well that they would then suspend the democratic process?
        Hard Brexit now!

So let me ask you, during cold war, did this apply to the communist party (or whatever they were called here) that were clearly a big danger as they effectively worked for the enemy? Were the communist members thrown out of jobs in this country in 70-80s? I'd say those people represented far bigger threat than BNP ever will.

The courts and legal practice were well established during the Weimar government too.

That's not freedom then is it?

For example, you are free to disagree with me on this, but if you do there will be consequences... so I kinda wouldn't advise it, know what I mean?

Losing one's job is catastrophic to many people - you may as well pull the trigger yourself you fascist thug.

There would be queues of people wanting to join them. It's happened before, it would happen again

Look dude, where they will get 35%? There are so many non-whites in this country now that they will never get anywhere close to that figure, it's just not possible. They don't even poll 5% nationally, local support is non-existant - they barely got a handful of councillors, they should have been left to rot and never mentioned (unless some criminal activity is proven).

Do you think at the time Berlin had 40-45% of non-white population? If BNP was ever close to get in power then all asians non-whites and lots of whites would vote against them - they have zero chance.
