Drivers using the "Hard Shoulder" when all three lanes are stuffed ( and not on the M42 where you can during peak times before anyone points this out)

Saw this when I was stuck on the M6 a few weeks ago, apparently traffic cops were having a field day at the Services as they tracked these idiots.

An AA Patrolman lost his legs thanks to one of those idiots
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

That reminds me: the wheeze invented fairly recently, whereby hard shoulders are magically transformed into motorway lanes during peak flow times... what is the result?

Not while they are putting in all the required signs and making the breakdown areas it doesn't. The M42 was a nightmare when they were doing the work to allow driving on the hard shoulder. Also, I've noticed a few times that they leave the speed limits on when the road isn't actually busy. I wonder how many have been done for creeping over 50 when the road has been empty. I've been on it when the outside lane has been completely empty yet the variable speed limits are still showing 50.
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

            I preferred version 1!

Used the M42 since it started and it does seem to work unless there is sonething on at the NEC ( Cruff's and the Clothes Shoe) then everything gets stuck, including all the back roads.

However - there are loads of drivers who do not know what ' variable; means and continue to speed up then slow down. However, I do not know anyone who has been done for speeding on this bit of the Motorway - does anyone else?

I've used it often since and it does seem ok but it still bugs me when the put the speed restriction on when there is very little traffic on the road. The thing is, if they were to use the M42 as a template for all other roads, for the next x years we are going to have a nightmare of a time when they do the work on the current bottlenecks.

As for being done for speeding there, I simply get into the lanes with the truck and put on my cruise control.

Apart from a 3 month break - used it for two years

BMW drivers are getting a rough deal on this thread, and although I'm one myself I'm inclined to agree. I noticed a difference in the way other road users treat me when I started driving a BMW too, which is thanks to the reputation. I have however noticed a few times on the M6 recently that Vectra drivers are also aggressive tw@ts. Just not worth driving so aggressively when a small mistake can cost lives though.
Practically perfect in every way....there's a time and (more importantly) a place for malarkey.

the M42 cameras don't work if you change lane inbetween the cameras
