Will the UK population wake up to a new realisation of the world like they did then, dig in, grin and bare it. Or will they all go whining to their mummies?

Not that either course of action will help, because this time it'll be different, this time it'll be far worse.

Soon every car manufacturer will make 1 car and sell it as different models to the clueless by changing the dress, just like VAG and their golf/audi TT/Audi A3
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

A car with non-corroding body, non-toxic paint, dual electrical system for backup...

Far from outsourcing, the manufacturer attracted the best workers with industry-leading wages and conditions...

Yes, the Model T. Downhill from there on.

funny enough we were at war then, and although the war hasnt actually reached the shores of our every day life (ie like the blitz) we are at war with 2 countries right now which is also very costly

We're not at war with those countries. In Iraq and Afghanistan we are supporting their governments against Islamic insurgents.
