It's the VB of the web, but surprisingly good (PHP5).

Beats the shyte out of ASP.NET for most applications.

I love the way the same discussion pops up with every mention of PHP on CUK.
One day, folk will realise that the quality of the team is far more important than the choice of platform in the production of good software.

He's just jealous. Soon tape-changing will be dead and he'll be stuck farming potatoes for the rest of his life.

Exactly. Loath it all you like, PHP is pretty much the 'glue' of the web.

I have an aversion to weakly-typed languages but PHP is improving all the time (things like 'type hinting' on function/method parameters).

I get on with PHP fine, but I cry when I have to look at ASP.NET.

.NET/C# is great for back-end webservices but for the customer-facing stuff, .NET is shyte.

Do any major sites use ASP.NET?

Still, could be worse. The lingua-franca of the web could still be CGIs and Perl

i humbly take it all back and apologise

as long it pays who cares who cares eh

will disagree with statement above that the team is better than the platform

in my time served opinion, if it does not cost a fortune it will not be respected, therefore, platform first

                  Milan.
