humbly take it all back and apologise

as long it pays who cares who cares eh

will disagree with statement above that the team is better than the platform

in my time served opinion, if it does not cost a fortune it will not be respected, therefore, platform first

Somewhat agree. I've seen good dev teams fall apart over the wrong choice of tool/platform.

However, I would add that the technical merits of the tool/platform are secondary to how 'comfortable' the team members are with it.

You've come right out the other side of the forest of irony and ended up in the desert of wrong.

The problem with PHP is that the entry level skill set is quite low so you end up with complete goons coding away. Sites can often become unmaintainable but that's what you get when you are wacking SQL into web pages.

Oh here we go. It's the old VB thing again.

Programming should be HARD god dammit! I had to do it the HARD way and I resent these upstarts who have the nerve to call themselves 'programmers' making me redundant/irrelevant.

Get over it. Programming per-se is not HARD.

Some languages are almost deliberately obfuscated and awkward (e.g. C++) while others are easy to get things done in (Javascript, VB, PHP, Ruby, Python).

It could be argued that the 'easy' languages are 'scripting languages' but today that hardly matters.

The easier it is for creative people to code applications, the better off we'll all be.

You've come right out the other side of the forest of irony and ended up in the desert of wrong.

I'd agree if we were talking about PHP before OO. Now, you can build serious applications with PHP using MVC, OO, ActiveRecord etc. Especially with frameworks like Zend, Symphony, I feel like PHP becoming more like a programming language than scripting language. That's my humble opinion of course.

Will someone please get the PHP developer role in the Midlands please. I am fed up with the dam role poping up when I am searching Jobserve. It's been there daily for about 2 weeks now.
