I don't want to think about disaster recovery in your pants, but I'm forced to. What kind of disasters might they be? How could you hope to implement failover? And high availability would require Viagra or similar

Yes, as I thought. ‘CMM level 5’, ISO 9000 and TMap monkeys who couldn’t test a bloody birthday calendar with 3 of the months missing?
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014

It’s modern management and it’s not unique to our profession. Believe it or not, I know bank employees who’ve been trying to tell their marketing oriented bosses for years that debt derivatives were a big pyramid scheme. My girlfriend is a nurse who has seen the shocking fall in hygiene standards after halfwits with MBAs outsourced the cleaners trying to save money, and as soon as she became head of nursing sent the outsourced cleaners home and hired her own, reporting to her. Brilliant, she goes around doing the matron thing and finding specks of dust they’ve missed; no more bed infections.

I know teachers who have a passion for their subject but are completely disillusioned with bloody national curriculums, key performance indicators and idiot school ‘directors’ replacing head teachers.

Policemen who have to hand out enough fines for measly offences each day to meet their quota instead of giving people an educational ‘talking to’, which they know would work better.

Personally I think the only solution is the wholesale abolition of managers who have little or no formal training or experience in the sector in which they work. That would mean techies running software projects, teachers running schools, nurses running nursing homes, doctors running hospitals and engineers running factories instead of halfwit ‘International Marketing Management’ graduates who think their MBA gives them a license to fook up any sector they choose to ‘work’ in. Which only leaves us with the question of who we trust to run the banks.

My ex-wife left the public sector to do an MBA - and based on that I couldn't agree with you more

You wouldn't. CfH are the biggest bunch of self serving freeloaders I've ever had the misfortune to work with. And I've worth with lawyers!
