A "pub" that not only has no real ale - it doesn't even have any kind of bitter whatsoever, not even in bottle. (I know because they say so on their web site. That and I've been there, though not for long.)

And then a trendy restaurant that's too cool to even make its "crisps" out of potatoes (WTF is "celeriac" anyway?) and puts apricots in its stuffing?

Sorry, but it all sounds a bit too fashionable for the likes of me

I can't justify spending money on travel and hotels for an evening with nothing to drink and nothing to eat, so I'll have to give this one a miss - sorry, RH

Oh, I also notice that the restaurant has a "smart casual" dress code listed in the sidebar on the "details" page. I refuse point blank to go anywhere that has any kind of "dress code" other than "clothed".

Actually I'm more concerned about the pub's cr@ppy flashy website - that doesn't bode well in the pretention stakes....

Still - I'll not be sober long enough to care....

It's been carefully designed to match their cr@ppy flashy punters

It has the advantage of being about five minutes walk away from Angel tube station, meaning one can flee via the Northern Line (Bank branch northbound) to St Pancras, switch to the Piccadilly, and get to Covent Garden or Leicester Square without too much effort.

Wtf? I can understand your comments about the pub, but the restaurant?

I was going for a few things here: Nice food; Reasonably good reviews; Easy to get to; Near some good bars, pubs etc; and, most crucially, able to book on a Friday in December in London without having to pay in advance or put down a whacking great deposit.

As for the pub, it was chosen because it was easy for people to find, and near the restaurant. I must admit I didn't inspect it too closely, or indeed, check the beers available. Feel free to PM me with an alternative meeting place - that's the least of my worries, frankly.

Well done RH! I know it's a thankless task herding this crowd.

So no critism intended, just thought I'd link in

Yep, let's consider changing the pub.
PMs most welcome, there are shedloads of good bars in that area.

                We love you RH!

Can anyone share the burden and help organise the pub?

A bit selfish, Nick, to be honest. If you'll only go to spit and sawdust pubs then I think that is a bit unfair.

To each their own, but you can't please all the people, etc...

I think great work and thanks to rh.

I'm more than happy with what rh has PM'd. Even if I wasn't and it wasn't exactly my cup of tea, I would still go and I wouldn't be complaining.

Just PM me when you've decided.

                      Again.

P.S. If it was me that had done all the organisation work as you have done, I would tell people to fork off if they didn't like it!

                      But that's just me.
