Hardly a desperately needy case requiring anything grander than a small flat.
Dont fall for the hype. She doesnt normally live there, only there while her flat is fixed up. She wouldnt have got to much choice om where she was relocated temporarily. She def doesnt deserve to be named and her picture spread all over the media.

Fair point Tay, I doubt the recent headlines are typical, but there is a widespread general problem with the allocation of social housing in that it often does not properly reflect even need, let alone deserts.

I used to see it a lot in a voluntary thing I used to do (not now cos I unfortunately buggered up their van). I helped single middle-aged alcoholics move into large new purpose-built flats and then delivered stuff to families in pokey little ancient ones.

ALL of them were better than the sort of flats I lived in on contract. That was my choice, I could have afforded much better and I am a cheapskate who likes to save money. The point is that the other poor buggers in the house, local area lorry drivers and the like, had no choice it was all they could afford.

If social housing provided by the state is better than can be afforded by people who work full time, the only direction for society is down.

The property, designed by architect James Pennethorne, was home to the park's gardeners, but more recently has been used for storage despite extensive renovation work.
i.e. they have put her in a former gardener's house that is now a shed. It's hardly her fault that a shed is worth £2m in that area, and she won't get the benefit of that valuation anyway. And the nearest shops are about a mile away up (or down) a stupidly steep hill.

Presumably they know she'll look after it OK or they wouldn't have put her in there. And she did paint these so she's not a complete layabout. Much better to have here living there than a fat corporate lawyer or porn baron.
