Which was the point. Now take that fish-hook out of your face and get back to work.
Cooking doesn't get tougher than this.

Actually, this sounds like it's illegal to me, tax evasion?
He said that he made extra cash buying and selling cars, 'but officially I'm not earning anything so I'm officially unemployed'.

They dont wind me up, it is the system that winds me up.
Actually even the system doesnt wind me up, as I am leaving ther country in 7 weeks. For good.

But every western country with a benefits system has chancers, but not usually to the extent of 12k a month in rent....

Actually, I do get angry with the family: that they were given this amazing "gift" doesn't mean that they should accept it as some sort of Lottery Win and then sit back and laugh; they should be, er, looking for work, or am I missing something? The Council's crapness is, of course, terrible and heads should roll.

I think at least one of them is! Otherwise you are correct the state should be getting the flack not the family.
The son quite clearly states he makes extra income by buying and selling cars. I am betting he is not paying the tax on that nor is he declaring his earnings to the benefits office.
This raises another question. Is he making his own claim? If so then why is he being assessed as part of the family requiring a 7 bed house when he could be in his own bedsit like every other unemployed bloke in the UK.

I also think the landlord is in cahoots, I read he is charging twice the going rate for this house to the social. I suspect he is getting the benefit in other ways too.

Why is the husband not paying this bill as part of his CSA assessment? (or did I miss that?)
I am not qualified to give the above advice!

                    Smith and Wesson.

Step back, have a think and adjust my own own attitude from time to time
