Ok. So who's actually worked in investment banking?

I don' mean plugging things in, in the network rack in some basement in EC1, but actually on a trading floor.

To declare my hand, I have worked for several IBs but in IT, not as a trader.

There seem to be an awful lot of 'armchair generals' hereabouts.

    [edit for the hard-of-thinking]
I mean as in doing actual trades, not IT monkeying.

Most of my career been in banks. Worked on trading floor next to traders, and married to an ex IB who now recruits into it.

Had a few drunken conversations where it's been explained to me, but when it starts getting technical and they're using the greek alphabet and such I start to get lost.

I have been in IB only since 1st Jan 1987.

About 8 years on trading floor.

I have worked in quant roles as well.

How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

                    Are there still IBs?
I've seen much of the rest of the world. It is brutal and cruel and dark, Rome is the light.
