In all seriousness, I would go for Southport. It's about 30 mins from Liverpool central and isn't too bad a place (windy, though). I lived there for 2 years and loved it. The Scouse element isn't too strongly represented. Birkdale's the nicest part and has a station to get trains to Southport centre and Liverpool.Comment

It's beyond rough! I accidentally got off the train there once. Whilst waiting and crapping my pants myself on the platform, I saw a fight, a guy slap his wife (proper nasty), kids peeing in the waiting room, etc. Avoid! Avoid!Originally posted by Spacecadet View Postis it rough?Comment

Get yourself up there and have a look around. I think you'll find Liverpool City Centre is OK. I certainly wouldn't bother commuting from Southport if you are only there for a contract.Originally posted by DaveB View PostCheer's, I'll add it tot he list to check out.Comment

... and that giant yellow banana - what's that all about ?Originally posted by Bob Dalek View PostIt's a shame about Liverpool: some of the best architecture in Britain; great estuary; near a lot of decent countryside; many world firsts, etc., but populated by trash. Ah well.Comment
