No its not tulip - that's why English people are constantly making fun of foreigners who can't pronounce / spell English words correctly, or making grammatical mistakes.... I knew a manager who barely managed to get a GCSE, didn't have a clue about the project or systems, but was constantly proud when he manages to find one typo in any document he reviewed, he used to march to the person who made the typo and shout loud that how come he doesn't even have a degree and found the typo while others with PhDs didn't notice?? He'll gloat and think he is the smartest person on the planet.... I suppose he had to compensate for the lack of understandign any contents

It's got nothing to do with him being a foreigner, and I don't for a second think that AtW actually thinks the expression is and I quote:

If I was in Lehman Brothers decision making team who agreed to buy derivatites to value of something like $500 bln (this is apparently their worst case liabilities according to some newsources), then I'd certainly say NO. No bank with a long history should expose itself to any market that can potentially bankrupt it - but of course we both know that the decision making team was getting short term bonuses on quick profits they made, in fact the bigger they exposed their bank the more money they made - only then it killed them. Frankly I expect bigger case than Enron to be opened against Lehman Brothers.

Ah but then your profits would have been severally down, and the shareholders would sell your stock meaning your company would be in the doldrums and maybe facing backrupcy.......This happened ti Merrill Lynch, they didn't jump into the credit markets, the share holder start to vote with their feet, the share price went down as did ratings, so they had to get into the market, as they were late in they over did it. For a while there were record profits.....we all know what happened next

No, that's bollox. This country would benefit greatly without having City present - at least this way PhDs in stats will not be training to fk people over from their money, but maybe to do something useful in life even if this involves teaching in academia

City for UK is like oil for Russia - it's overabundance is a curse that needs to be dealt with.

The city generates a massive contribution to the UK GDP. remove this and we will see how our economy suffers
