When people can't be bothered to spell properly it makes me wonder what else they don't have time for."See, you think I give a tulip. Wrong. In fact, while you talk, I'm thinking; How can I give less of a tulip? That's why I look interested." -
It all depends on whether spelling is the core requirement for success - it is for a spelling teacher or for spelling nazi on CUK, however it is not for current discussion that we are having. I do try to endeavour and improve my spelling though.Originally posted by Moscow Mule View PostWhen people can't be bothered to spell properly it makes me wonder what else they don't have time for.Comment

It's called having a sense of humour. You should try it sometime, you never know it might land you up in bed with an actual woman if you get good at it.Originally posted by AtW View PostWhen people pick on spelling it shows that they don't have any more serious arguements.Hang on - there is actually a place called Cheddar?? - cailin maith

It's a serious discussion in this thread here. I also note here that people who appeal to humour element have got even arguements than those who mention spelling.Originally posted by snaw View PostIt's called having a sense of humour.Comment

I believe this is the way most of the world think - for English people however, being able to spell your own mother language seems the ultimate achievement, to them if you can spell then you can do anything, and they'll trust you with managing any organisation.Originally posted by AtW View PostIt all depends on whether spelling is the core requirement for success - it is for a spelling teacher or for spelling nazi on CUK, however it is not for current discussion that we are having. No its not tulip - that's why English people are constantly making fun of foreigners who can't pronounce / spell English words correctly, or making grammatical mistakes.... I knew a manager who barely managed to get a GCSE, didn't have a clue about the project or systems, but was constantly proud when he manages to find one typo in any document he reviewed, he used to march to the person who made the typo and shout loud that how come he doesn't even have a degree and found the typo while others with PhDs didn't notice?? He'll gloat and think he is the smartest person on the planet.... I suppose he had to compensate for the lack of understandign any contentsOriginally posted by snaw View PostInteresting observation. That's not stereotyping, if you want evidence then look into any thread on this BB and see responses any typos
May be for the first time I have to agree with AtW - sorry AtW, wont happen again, I promise
