          Bollocks. If it was going to happen it would have happened well before Lehmans. HBOS has been plagued by short sellers and trash and cash trading since at least March and they show no signs of going under yet.

          When banks fail like this they fail fast. Lehmans was gone a matter of days. Northern Rock only lasted as long as they did because speculation and dithering about what the Government would do kept them afloat for a couple of weeks longer than they should have had.

          The deal to sell Merril Lynch was done in a week because that was the timescale they knew they had to get it done before they risked going under themselves.

          My money is on Barcleys being the success story after the dust settles. hey seem to eb the only bank in a position to take advantage of whats happening.

                  You forget that HBOS has already had access for months to BofE funding, which Northern Rock was denied. That is one reason why HBOS' demise has been slowed down. You are slightly naive.
