You're a fool. Local councils are already trying to reduce street furniture because of information overload to drivers. This is a safety issue because each extra item is potentially an extra hazard, but as usual we have yourself spouting blind ignorance.

Anticipation ..In town what everyone does is drag race from the last set of traffic lights and follow the pace set by the first car... I get up to just above the legal limit and set the cruise. If I hold anyone up bollox to them

Same on Motorways - set to high 70's and cruise , usually you can anticipate the lorries moving out so occasionally I hold up the third lane drivers who want to do 100... bollox to 'em
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

I don't use it in all situations - my cruise control won't work under 28mph
Agree with you about how people can't maintain a speed though. Notice it a lot on the motorway when the cruise control is on. Of course then the muppets realise they've slowed down as you're over taking, speed up and then you have to either speed up to complete the overtake or slow down and drop in behind again.
Even had a police car do it to me once!

I'm a fool - but a bloke who can't drive and glance at the speedo now and again, and by his own admission, slams on the brakes if he sees a speed camera even if he's travelling at a legal speed is what? How did you pass your test without looking at the speedo? As for your reference to street furniture, you are wriggling like a politician because you don't have an answer.

BTW you need to vote - yours is option 1.

i think - what were the cars and speeds that top gear used to test the theory that if you go fast enough the camera won't be triggered or will flash and miss you.

Doesn't work with the new cameras, only the old ones which took two pictures and hence two flashes. You also have to be traveling over 150mph (ish) for the second flash not to register.

I can't watch this here, but I think it's the one.

Anybody who's been driving for a few years should be able to roughly tell how fast they're going without looking at the speedo anyway. The occasional glance at the speedo is just for confirmation.

Agree with you regarding motorways but I have never been able to use cruise control in London for a long enough period of time to make it worthwhile.

The arguments are a bit boolean.
If under normal driving you notice you are above the limit you generally back off and slowly reduce speed and as you say you have a good feel for speed. You then do a couple more quick checks. With a speed camera you have a limited distance to adjust your speed so tend to check the speedo more.
I do not believe anybody can pass a camera and not at least check their speed.
Many cameras are in places where there are enough distractions already.
I am not qualified to give the above advice!
