"$2.5 trln, this is more than annual UK GDP" (2.504 trln) - so wrong!

Seriously - it all depends on exchange rate - which is going down. Important thing is it is a very sizeable amount of debt - far more than NR.

Will funds still prop up the US govt? I reckon they will - but markets will be spoked. I am going for a 3% drop tmrw in major stock markets.

      So is UKs GDP!

I don't think it matters if it is 75% of UK GDP or 125% - in any case it is a huge figure and NR is nowhere near that in absolute or relative (% of UK morgages) levels.

So looks like it is P(utin's lover)addy who is wrong here.

Paddy wrote "It has more the twice the national debt of the UK". What did he mean by it? Those companies have debts of $5 trillion I think?

This was incorrect statement as your calculations illustrate.

He may have made correct statement after that one (I can't be arsed to check and it's not an issue) but he certainly wasn't right accusing me of not knowing facts insofar my earlier GDP statement is concerned.

P(utin's lover)addy is wrong yet again. Old news.

Paddy's original post was in reply to your post "This should mainly affect shareholders of those companies. Dollar might slide down though, but probably against euro only.".

Paddy is not disputing the amount of GDP(at least to my mind - a pity he is not here). He is just saying it will be worse than affecting those 2 companies shareholders and the cable(USD/GBP in case you don't know) exchange rate.

Personally - I hope you are right. I really really do. But I think BlasterBates, Turion and Dim Prawn will be in full flow with DOOM stories tmrw/Tuesday. Not that they need much excuse.....

Yes, but this only deepens the depth of his failure - he talks about "facts", there can't be any "facts" in prediction that I made! By definition forward looking statements about something that may or may not happen are not facts, they are "opinions". So when Paddy talks about "facts" he certainly was referring to factural stuff like 2.5 trln being larget than UK GDP, your calculations proved it in my view.

I’ve go no idea what I meant. I just wanted to provoke AtW. I just got the tail end of it on BBCWC and I then went to the website. They also said that UK Banks have bought some of these now worthless bonds.
