The main problem that I find is that the communists managed to successfully destroy what was pretty decent nation and turn it into fairly aggressive easily manipulated crowd. They achieved this over 70 years (to be fair nazies were more successful but then again Germans proved they can roll that back - Russians failed to do so), people who were pro-freedom were either killed over 70 years of commie rule or had to emigrate.

So you have mentally sick nation that now enjoys rare spike in oil prices and can't even appreciate why suddenly they can buy food and drinks - they credit Putin where as they should have credited Bush for his crazy adventure in Iraq.

Bush is no angel, and he says stupid things but USA is based on constitution and people have firearms there - they learn about freedom and their rights in school, and what do you think Putin started doing for schools instead? He re-introduced military course that was present in USSR (it's when you study AK rifles and general propaganda about the enemy) and also uses Ortodox Church to poison young minds.

Russia has been run by criminals for a long time, but even during USSR days it was not so bare - Stalin was a criminal who was robbing banks before he got to power, but he never used the kind of criminal language that Putin uses publicly for interviews, and what kind of language you think he uses in private then?

When submarine "Kursk" sunk and sailors were slowly dieing from lack of oxygen Putin was on vacation and did not interrupt it, they wanted to hide this and refused help from Norway/NATO that could have saved his own soldiers (he is commander in chief), so when wifes and mothers of dead sailors started showing on TV saying stuff against him what do you think he said and did? He called up Berezovski (the guy that got asylum here) and said literally that he should shut those "sluts" up - he used word "sluts" in relation to those women, can you fking believe it!?!?! The lesson he learnt from that is that he needs to take over TV and so he did. Now you won't see anybody on TV critising him. Is that the case in USA or UK? Not at all.

So anybody who compares USA and Russia and says it is the same is totally and utterly wrong - despite all the shortcomings of the USA they have a chance to put it right - Putin (and his predecessors) always made sure that once they get into Kremlin and never leave - he stopped elections effectively, at least in USA you know people will change course and so they will, but not in Russia.

If it was not for Bush going to Iraq that resulted in oil price going up so much a lot of that crap would not have happened

In theory at $60-70 price per barrel making liquid fuel from coal is profitable, Germans invented the process during WW2 and were using it under bombs, surely now it is possible to build enough of those processing factories to ensure supply of fuel is always on the up? The ******rds big oil companies don't want to invest into that, why would they if they can make $130-150 per barrel?

Russia exports 6-7 mln barrels of oil which is a big chunk, but it was insane in the first place to depend on regimes like this and now it is clear how they use the money - at least in Saudi Arabia they have their regime more or less in the borders but KGB leadership ain't just the type that would sit put - they steal a lot of money and they need the external enemy to keep their power.

This takes the biscuit!! Who started World War II ? Anybody would think from your post that it was Britain. We were fighting for our existence and your post demeans the bravery of our airmen against overwhelming odds.

I for one am very proud of those guys, many of whom gave their lives for the benefit of our freedoms that some such as yourself take so much for granted !!

Hitler and Stalin - they actually attacked Poland together. And Stalin's regime supported Hitler before that - German panzer corps (with Guderian himself) and Luftwaffe trained in USSR because they could not do so earlier!

And while Germans were bombing London in 1940 the USSR was supplying huge amounts of war materials. Frankly, after having a lot of thoughts I think if it was not for Britain then USSR would have been totally invaded in 1940 and lose war very quickly - that would have happened if Britain made peace deal with Hitler as he wanted so. That was great luck for the British to be stubborn and smart - despite attractive peace offer it was obvious that Hitler might not honour it in the future.
