The speech he gave afterwards about "Ping Pong coming home" - HILARIOUS! Also the look on Sebastian Coe's face was a picture, he was thinking "get this F**kwit out of here"

They don't know any of the history, or listen to any of his 'witty' speeches. They just see some scruffy guy acting like a naughty schoolboy representing London on the global stage.

Clearly I'm not hit a note with this one, but I reckon my point is still valid - maybe I just read too many of the foreign reports on how he came across (Inc 'right leaning' ones like the wall street journal), but it wasn't exactly inspiring.
Mate - I'm not disagreeing with you, he is a shambolic embarrassment, and the Olympics farce probably wasn't the best image to present to the world.
It's just that his buffoonery is nonetheless quite charming in an eccentric, foppish way, and one of the principal reasons he was elected. It probably presents a truer image of London and the UK than any slick, savoy-suited savant.

I see some people are moaning that Bozza disrespected the olympic flag by only taking it with one hand. I mean, come on, how can you disrespect a flag which symbolises a sporting event? It's not like he burnt a national flag is it?

I think a sense of perspective is required as it seems to be missing...
        Older and ...well, just older!!

Boris, on the surface, represents what many British folk would like the UK to be seen as: a bit harum-scarum, posh-but-approachable, amusing, yet downright decent, and, in spite of everything, always coming out on top having played by the rules.

How the frig he ever got elected to do anything is beyond me, but image is all and ability is a definite second place quality. The Olympic thing was bottom-scrunchingly embarrassing, and Boris was the cherry on the cow pat.

            Nicely put.

However can you imagine worm-faced Red Ken on the world stage? Oh Dear comrades.
