    My ex is as keen for me to maintain contact with my children as I am.

      Then I am very pleased for you. Government quotes that only 10% of divorces require intervention (180,000 divorces per year and 18,000 unique litigants per year) but each litigant needs average of around 3 appearances! Plus that 180,000 includes those with no kids. But more importantly some can't afford to go to court.

      But the more who behave sensibly the better! Sounds like you made originally a very good choice of partner.
