    Indeed, and another reason ID cards (or at least the database) are a bad idea - as we have already seen, bent Coppers and bent DVLA officials can be bribed for data on you and where you live. It'll be that much worse when there's more data in one place.

        Yes, but it is possible to get password protected USB sticks and to encript data. At least there would be some nod towards security instead of the spate of unprotected data being carried around.
