I stopped running; it was boring and my shins hurt, I always ended up in the same place where i'd started feeling knackered; couldn't see the benefit.
The gym's much better, still boring but my joints won't be as buggered in later life.

Walking is good for you, and it can also be combined with getting places.

Did you consider horizontal jogging as an alternative?

Anyone read "Supersquats"? It's an interesting, if very, very padded-out book. Basically, do 20 squats, 3 times per week, drink loads of skimmed milk, and raise the weight by 5lb each session. Result: either death (joke), or incredible fitness. I did it 20 years back, and stopped "owing to studies". In reality, it was just very punishing and I got lazy about it. Wish I'd kept it up. The results were staggering.

I go cycling with the other half every day. Only 6 miles atm but building it up as the missus isnt as fit as me.

If you consistently run on pavements, roads and concrete then you will get problems. Man was not evolved to run on such hard surfaces.

Also if you exercise with other people you won't get bored.

More of us might take up running if it could be done whilst still asleep.
