Maybe they didn't arrange an abduction.
Maybe the gave the toddler a sleeping pill so they could go to the pub safe in the knowledge she wouldn't get up.
Maybe they accidentally gave her an overdose and killed her.
Maybe they hid the body and called the police saying she was abducted.
Maybe Because if they had confessed at this point, they lose ALL their children and their careers are over.
Maybe they later took the body away in a hire car and disposed of it.
    Well, my thoughts anyway.
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

However, one problem with the sleeping pill theory.

      They are both medically trained.

Therefore, an overdose is highly unlikely.

At the most, one parent could have slipped her a pill, and forgotten to tell the other parent, who may have slipped the child another pill.

I'm not sure if 2 sleeping pills, instead of 1, would be enough to harm a child.

I can find out from some doctors tomorrow if you want ?

As to what happened, well, we'll just have to keep waiting on this one.

Are you saying doctors are immune from making mistakes? When pissed? And in high spirits? And feeling all warm and care-free?

          Of course not.

However, I would have thought that even if a person was tiddly, they'd know if they were giving a child 1 tablet or 30. Particularly a medical professional.

I guess the theory does depend on dosage, and how much leeway for error there could be under such circumstances.

If the child was abducted then she is most surely dead. After all the publicity and mob rule that will meet the abducter should they be found out they would have had little choice but to get rid of the little girl in a way that means her body will never be found.

Was it really that clever posting her picture all over the place? For whoever was holding the girl she very quickly became dangerous to have around after that. Whoever decided to do that secured her fate, if you assume she was abducted.

If it was the parents who insisted on her image being kept in the public eye you have to wonder why that did not occur to them.

I would trust BGG after a couple of pints. After half a bottle of sambucca...definitely not.

Not at all. At the very least they're irresponsible parents. At the worst, well, lack of evidence doesn't mean lack of guilt. I still suspect there was a horrible accident and that they covered it up, and that they're in severe denial.

PS I wish their "spokesman" would just STFU, he gets on my tits they way he paints them as modern day saints.

I was wishing that they would STFU about this within a few weeks of it happening.

I have no idea what happened, I just hope the child is ok.

Paediatrics is a medical speciality for a reason.

The majority of medicines state that you can't give them to kids and if the medicine is allowed to be given to a kid the dose depends on the child's body weight.

So if they did dose the kid with sleeping pills then they would have very likely to kill her. If you want a kid to sleep give them calpol, something that contains alcohol or add a little alcohol to their night time milk. This has been going on for centuries.....
