Well it was an accident that this guy left the flat at the time he did. Had somebody else left that flat just before him, they could have been shot instead. -

How is AtW any different from you who has accepted without question the police are guilty based on the release of an incomplete report which is still in its draft stages?Originally posted by BobTheCrateYou accepted in totality the explanation given by the Police despite aspects (known at the time) that should have given rise to your reserving judgement. Instead you arbitrarily (and viciously) condemned Menezes in the same way the Police did.
I like how the media are conditioning the people in to thinking the police are guilty when in fact the final report has not been releaed yet and when it is may infact clear the police of any wrong doing.
What made me laugh was Tuesdays evening standard headline "Police face murder charges" yet when you read the actual article it only mentions that certain police "MAY" face murder charges. The headline was nothing more than sensationalism and if this country had any kind of standards authority that regulated the media I would have made a formal complaint!

I think Bob paid more attention to probably the only one of the undeniable facts confirmed by the coroner that the guy was shot with 7 bullets in the head + 1 in the shoulder. Everything else was speculation that now appears to be incorrect -- photo of the dead guy certainly does not show he was dressed in huge unusual coat, it also appears he was not jumping over ticket barriers -- a rather key point in my view.Originally posted by MailmanHow is AtW any different from you who has accepted without question the police are guilty based on the release of an incomplete report which is still in its draft stages?
If the police won't prove that they challenged him clearly and ordered to stop then I think they are in d33p sh1t.Comment

But if you go back to the original thread you'll see I was asking that people reserve their judgement on Mr Menezes supposed actions until after the investigation and defending/countering Menezes on this forum in the face of a great deal of damnation he was receiving.
You may be right. It seems unlikely but yes, the IPCC may yet still clear the Police of any wrong doing.
After the Lord Hutton enquiry though, makes you wonder how many enquiries are needed before we, the public, feel comfortable we've been told enough of the truth, whatever your leaning.
Yes I think you're right AtW. It was that which raised my suspicion about what what happened - that and what witnesses had said about him being already restrained prior to being killed.Originally posted by AtWI think Bob paid more attention to probably the only one of the undeniable facts confirmed by the coroner that the guy was shot with 7 bullets in the head + 1 ...Comment

Brazil team to probe Tube death
Brazil team to probe Tube death
I can't help but suspect a great deal of Brazilian hypocrisy here.
How many times has this team investigated deaths at the hands of trigger happy Brazilian Police over the last 10 years I wonder.Comment

Its foreign politics -- they act in a way that would allow Brazilian Govt to strike a good bargain with the UK's. Also looks good for internal politics that the State is doing something for Brazilians.Originally posted by BobTheCrateI can't help but suspect a great deal of Brazilian hypocrisy here.Comment
