I love listening to people having phone conversations on the train.
It amazes me what people are prepared to give out in public.

There's a fun variant you can use when they're talking business, if they let slip which company they work for. As soon as they've finished, pretend to ring somebody up and say "Hello Myles, would you downgrade TheirCo from 'hold' to ' sell'?. Put it under code 4a."

If I notice somebody listening intently to my conversation, I slip into "planning an armed robbery " mode.
Keeps them occupied, enlivens their day, and usually I get to meet interesting new people at the local nick
